How to Connect LaunchBay to ChatGPT

This guide walks you through connecting your LaunchBay account to ChatGPT. Once connected, ChatGPT can find tasks and projects, create work, send client reminders, update statuses, and more — directly from your chat.

Before You Start

You'll need a paid ChatGPT plan (Plus, Pro, Team, or Enterprise). Free accounts do not support custom MCP connections.

Full Setup Instructions

Below we'll walk through each step to get LaunchBay connected to your ChatGPT account.

Step 1: Open your ChatGPT settings

Open ChatGPT and go to your account Settings. In the settings modal, click the Apps tab, and then Advanced Settings.

Step 2: Enable Developer Mode

On the next screen, toggle on Developer Mode.

Note: ChatGPT will display a warning that Developer Mode carries elevated risk and disables memory. This is a current ChatGPT limitation that applies to all custom MCP connections. You can safely continue.

Step 3: Create the LaunchBay app

Click Create App at the top of the screen. A "New App" modal will open. Enter the following:

• Name: LaunchBay
• Connection: Select Server URL, then enter https://app.launchbay.com/mcp/launchbay   
• Authentication: Select OAuth

Step 4: Authorize with your LaunchBay account

Check the acknowledgment box and click Create. You'll go through an OAuth flow. Log in with your LaunchBay credentials to authorize the connection.

Once complete, LaunchBay will appear under your enabled apps and your AI assistant will have access to your LaunchBay account.
