LaunchBay MCP Connector Overview

The LaunchBay MCP connector gives your AI assistant direct access to your LaunchBay account. Once connected, your AI can find tasks and projects, create work, send client reminders, update statuses, and more, all without you opening the dashboard.

What is MCP?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It's an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to external tools and take action inside them. Instead of your AI just answering questions, it can actually do things - in LaunchBay - and in any other tool that supports the protocol.

Because MCP is an open standard, the LaunchBay connector is designed to work with virtually any AI tool that supports it.

What Your AI Can Do Once Connected

After connecting, you can ask your AI assistant to:

Find & Report

• Pull a status report on any project or client
• Find overdue tasks across all active projects
• Check the health score of any active project
• Retrieve form submissions from any project
• Pull logged decisions from a project
• Find a specific client across your account
• Retrieve project notes
• Find and retrieve files uploaded to a project
• List all forms in your account
• Find details for a specific form
• List meetings within a date range
• Find details for a specific meeting

Take Action

• Create a project from a template
• Create tasks inside a specific project
• Create a new stage in a project
• Update due dates on tasks
• Mark tasks complete or change their status
• Archive a task
• Update task or project tags
• Assign or remove a client from a task
• Add a user to a project
• Create or update project notes
• Build a form
• Update an existing task (change its title or description, add subtasks or files, attach proofs or embeds, require a signature, or turn on reminders)

Build & Edit Templates

• Turn any document into a complete template. Share a spreadsheet, screenshots of your current process, a Slack thread, or a plain-language list of steps, and your assistant builds the stages and tasks in the right order. If your process collects client information, it creates the intake forms too and attaches them to the right tasks.
• Review any template in full, including every stage, task, description, subtask, form, and setting
• Add, edit, or remove tasks and stages, mark them internal or client-facing, and set how long each stage should take
• Rename a template or update its description

Template changes apply to projects created from the template going forward. Projects already in progress aren't affected. Only team members who can edit templates in LaunchBay can edit them through an AI assistant.

Manage Automations

• Get a plain-language summary of every automation on a project or template
• Build new automations by describing the trigger, delay, and actions you want
• Change existing automations, like renaming one, adjusting a delay, or swapping an action
• Remove automations you no longer need

If anything is unclear, like which of two tasks named "Review" you mean, your assistant will ask before building anything. Automations built this way appear in your Automations tab just like ones you build by hand.

Communicate

• Send reminders to clients with outstanding action items
• Comment on tasks to update your team or client

Getting Started

MCP connections require a paid plan in most AI tools. Free plans for Claude, ChatGPT, and most other AI assistants do not support custom MCP servers. Make sure you're on a paid or team plan before getting started.

• "In the [Project Name] project, create two tasks for the client: one asking them to upload their signed agreement, and one asking them to upload their remaining brand assets. Set the due date for both to next Friday and mark them as active."
